>Captain for a day

>19 Sep:

0430 – The waves knocked me out of the rack, so it must be time to get up. After a quick walk around the mess decks it seems no one else is having any problems sleeping.

0700 – Breakfast. Where is everyone? The ride is still pretty rough so there aren’t too many folks interested in food yet.

1130 – Lunch. That’s more like it. Several managed to eat lunch but are still feeling green. Everyone is looking forward to the afternoon drill as they know we will turn the ship down swell for a couple of hours so that we can safely move about the ship.

1800 – Not much improvement in the sea conditions but the crew seems to be getting their sea legs now. The forecast calls for improving seas overnight and the barometer is on the rise; good signs for a better day tomorrow.
