>At sea off of Kodiak, Alaska, 05-06 Oct 2008

>ACUSHNET is currently sailing with the Pollock Fleet off of Kodiak Island. It has been a busy couple of days and we have already boarded several vessels and are looking for more today. On one of the boardings we found a marijuana pipe which we confiscated and turned over to the Alaska State Troopers. You never know what you will find!

Here is a picture of SN Andrew Graver from Buck’s County PA. He is about to go topside on our flying bridge – that is the highest deck on the ship and be our lookout. It has already started to snow and as you may of heard, – things are tougher in Alaska! He has to be bundled up for the cold weather so that he can be the “Eyes and Ears” of the ship for the next hour. A tough – but vital job. SN Graver wants to be an Electrician’s Mate and is schedule to go to training when we get home from the patrol.
