>MUNRO Ship’s Journal – LTJG McCabe

>Getting underway again means many things for the crew, but there’s only one new objective in the Damage Control Division. Qualifying new personnel. Normally, this occurs through evening training sessions with fire and flooding drill competitions on the weekends to boost morale and give everyone more hands-on experience, but this patrol will be different. This time, the impending Tailored Annual Cutter Training evaluations are looming ahead in the immediate future, creating an urgent need for newly reported personnel to become fully qualified and capable as soon as possible. Not only is this a daunting process, but it also adds to the many tasks already being tackled by the Damage Control Division in order to prepare for the intense three week evaluation. Evening training sessions are coupled with numerous drills that involve the entire crew, thus providing a crash course in all things Damage Control on the cutter. My hope is that everyone finds the training fun and morale remains high as the number of evolutions drastically increases over the next couple of weeks in preparation for TACT. I have complete faith in the crew upholding the high standards the MUNRO set at TACT back in November of 2007. Keep it up guys!!
