As I open my eyes as a new day starts on our underway schedule I can’t help but feel some sort of anxiety over the day ahead. “What does the boat have planned for us today?” Flashes through my head. AS I put on my uniform I can’t help but feel a bit of pride, as a member of the CGC Munro I have a purpose. As a member of Main Prop, I help this ship run. Without the engineering department this boat would still be attached to the pier. As I walk to the engine room my stomach drops over excitement over the projects that lay ahead. A chance to learn something I never thought I would. Without the engineering department this ship would stand still in the water. As I wipe oil from the generators, I feel the oil soak through to my hands and feel a zest of enjoyment that I would have never pictured myself enjoying. Without the engineers this ship would not run.
