>Airborne Aids to Navigation

One of Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak’s many aviation missions is to support the professionals who maintain the multitude of Coast Guard buoys, dayboards, and markers that allow safe and efficient marine transportation. Members of the Coast Guard Aids to Navigation Team (ANT) Kodiak are frequent flyers aboard the Air Station’s MH-60J Jayhawk helicopters which transport them to remote sites which would otherwise be inaccessible. This allows the ANT to make timely repairs and upgrades to the many Aids to Navigation in Southwest Alaska.

Yesterday the Aids to Navigation Team repaired the Cape Chiniak Light on Kodiak’s Eastern shore with the air support of the crew of CG 6007.
