Coast Guardsmen with the Juneau Area Officers Association took part in their third adopt-a-highway event for 2011 in Juneau Oct. 7, 2011. Sunshine graced the day as about 20 members cleaned along Glacier Highway between miles 11 and 13.5 north of Juneau. The group collected about 200 pounds of trash.

“This project allows the Juneau Officers Association to be part of the community, provides an opportunity for us to preserve the beauty of Juneau, and provides camaraderie among the members,” said Lt. Charles McAndrews, JOA member.

The JOA maintains the beauty of the area by conducting up to three cleanup efforts each year.
