Oct. 15 – Coast Guard Station Valdez responded to a report of the fishing vessel Lucky taking on water in Valdez Arm Monday. The station’s 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew towed the vessel safely to Valdez. The master of the 28-foot vessel called the Coast Guard and reported that the vessel had struck submerged object and lost steering. They were disabled and adrift but did not take on any water. The Sector Anchorage command center issued a marine assistance response broadcast asking for the help of mariners in the area but when it went unanswered they chose to launch the response boat from Station Valdez.
