Coast Guard Team Kodiak participates in Military Saves Week

As part of Military Saves Week 2018, scheduled for Feb. 26 – March 3, Coast Guard Team Kodiak is spreading the saving message and urging the community to participate in Military Saves Week and take the Military Saves Pledge.

“Military Saves Week is a great opportunity to help service members and their families in our community Set a Goal, Make a Plan, and Save Automatically,” said Jody Carman, Base Kodiak Employee Assistance Program Coordinator.

To help people save more successfully and encourage more people to save, Base Kodiak Health, Safety and Work-Life is collaborating with The Alaska Saves Campaign in Anchorage by encouraging participation in the Facebook #imsavingfor video contest.

Additionally, Base Kodiak is offering free financial workshops on April 10, 11, and 12 as part of the Military Saves initiative to help people build wealth, not debt. These classes will include; Financial Life Cycle Classes (Introduction to Life Long Financial Habits; Planning, Prioritizing; and Protecting Your Fitness; How to plan for career Transition and Retirement) Relationships and Money, and more.

For more information contact Jody Carman or Velma Vining at 907-487-5525.

Military Saves Week and Alaska Saves Week is coordinated by America Saves and the Consumer Federation of America in partnership with the Department of Defense.  The Week is an annual opportunity for organizations to promote good savings behavior and a chance for individuals to assess their own saving status.
